E&I Commissioning Engineer – Hydrogen

We’re supporting a major hydrogen development and are looking for four experienced E&I Commissioning Engineers to join the project team on a long-term freelance contract.

You’ll be joining the commissioning phase of one of Europe’s flagship clean energy sites — ensuring the safe, compliant, and high-quality start-up of new electrical and instrumentation systems.

Rate: €65-85/hour for an "engineer" with a degree, €65-70/hour for a 'Technician'.

Start: Before end of November

Location: Maasvlakte (Rotterdam area)

Hours: 40–60 hours per week - 6 day weeks available

Contract type: Freelance

Your Responsibilities

  • Commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems in ATEX-rated areas.
  • Performing quality control checks on E&I installations prior to handover.
  • Overseeing loop checks, continuity and insulation resistance testing, and verification of field instrumentation.
  • Reviewing installation documentation and ensuring compliance with NEN and project standards.
  • Supporting handover documentation and completion of punch lists.

Your Background

  • You must have a degree to qualify for a role of an "engineer"
  • Proven experience in E&I commissioning on industrial or energy projects (preferably hydrogen, chemical, or refinery environments).
  • Strong knowledge of ATEX requirements for hazardous areas.
  • Valid NEN 3140 certification.
  • Solid understanding of quality control (QC) processes for E&I systems.
  • Fluent in English (Dutch an advantage).

 

Availability to start before the end of November and work full-time on site.

Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
