Job Title: Freelance Power Engineer – Railway Infrastructure

Contract Type: Freelance / 12-month contract
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Power Engineer to join our railway infrastructure team on a 12-month freelance contract in Copenhagen. You will be responsible for delivering engineering solutions for the railway power systems, with a focus on earthing, bonding, and switch heating. This is an exciting opportunity to work on critical rail infrastructure projects in Denmark, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient railway operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, review, and implement earthing and bonding systems for railway infrastructure to ensure electrical safety and compliance with relevant standards.
- Design and specify switch heating systems, including power supply calculations, cable routing, and integration into railway operations.
- Perform power system calculations and electrical designs for railway projects, including traction power distribution, protection systems, and associated electrical installations.
- Prepare technical documentation, drawings, and specifications in accordance with industry standards.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, contractors, and suppliers to ensure project delivery meets quality, safety, and schedule requirements.
- Support testing and commissioning of power systems, earthing/bonding networks, and switch heating installations.
- Contribute to risk assessments and ensure adherence to railway and electrical safety regulations.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in railway power systems, including earthing, bonding, or switch heating.
- Strong knowledge of electrical design standards and regulations applicable to railway infrastructure.
- Experience in project design, technical coordination, and commissioning.
- Proficient with engineering software for electrical calculations and CAD design.
- Excellent communication skills in English; Danish is a plus.
- Ability to work independently in a freelance capacity while managing deliverables and deadlines.
Contract Details:
- Duration: 12 months (freelance)
- Location: Copenhagen, Denmark (onsite/remote flexibility depending on project requirements)
- Start Date: Immediate / as agreed
