Project Manager Automation (m/f/d) – Long-Term Industrial Automation Project | Germany
We’re looking for a skilled Project Engineer Automation (m/f/d) to support a major brownfield automation replacement project at an industrial production site in northern Germany. This is a long-term freelance/contract role (preferred availability: 80–100% over 2 years).
This is a fantastic opportunity to lead the transition from Siemens S5-H to S7, in a role where you’ll directly influence the success of a high-impact modernization program.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead all technical engineering activities across concept, basic engineering, detailed design, execution, and commissioning.
- Take ownership of the automation system replacement project as a technical project lead.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure on-time, high-quality execution.
- Verify and track schedules, and support technical supplier management and documentation.
- Interface with project purchasing (scope verification, RFx optimization, and claims management).
- Support the creation and review of technical documentation, drawings, and commissioning plans.
- Provide regular technical input to project leadership and represent the project in technical meetings.
Your Profile
- Experience in industrial automation projects with a focus on Siemens systems (S5/S7).
- Strong communication skills, both internally and externally (stakeholders, suppliers).
- Proficient in MS Office, ERP systems, and familiar with project documentation tools.
- Experience in brownfield projects and managing complex interfaces is highly valued.
- Available for on-site presence (4 days/week), especially during critical phases (training, construction, commissioning).
- Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.
