Freelance Construction Manager (PV Park, Bavaria)

Location: Bavaria, Germany

Contract: Freelance, 12 months

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee all on-site construction activities for a new utility-scale solar PV park in Bavaria. The role covers civil works, mounting structures, electrical installation, grid connection interfaces, and contractor coordination to ensure safe, on-time delivery of the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day site construction operations and supervise all contractors.
  • Oversee civil, mechanical, and electrical workstreams (piling, structures, modules, cabling, MV/HV).
  • Ensure construction activities comply with design, quality, HSE standards, and German regulations.
  • Manage schedule, progress reporting, construction documentation, and site logistics.
  • Interface with EPC, engineering teams, local authorities, and grid operator.
  • Perform QA/QC checks, resolve technical issues, and coordinate commissioning support.
  • Drive site safety culture and enforce all HSE procedures and toolbox meetings.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in construction management for PV, wind, or similar infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of German construction practices and standards (VDE, DIN).
  • Proven ability to manage subcontractors and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience with utility-scale PV balance-of-plant and grid-connection works.
  • Excellent communication skills; English required, German highly preferred.
  • Strong reporting, scheduling, and problem-solving abilities.

Contract Details

  • Freelance, 12-month contract.
  • Immediate start; full-time on-site.
  • Competitive daily rate; travel/accommodation support negotiable.

Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
