About the Client:

An energy company with a clear vision. To assist with this, we are seeking a freelance CAD Designer / Piping Designer with strong technical expertise and a structured, reliable approach. Together with our in-house team, you will help transform a proven prototype into a scalable, standardized Power-to-Gas system – compliant, efficient, and ready for production.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design and dimension process systems for CO₂, H₂, O₂, and SNG at operating pressures up to 50 bar
  • Perform piping design including flow rate, pressure drop, and velocity calculations
  • Create and update P&ID diagrams and technical documentation
  • Carry out CAD-based detailed design using AutoDesk Inventor (including Vault integration)
  • Select and design fittings, valves, and safety equipment
  • Ensure compliance with CE conformity, Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), and relevant standards
  • Contribute to R&D projects optimizing methanation and plant concepts
  • Liaise with manufacturing partners, certification bodies, and authorities as needed

Profile

  • Master’s degree or Diplom-Ingenieur (University/FH) in Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in process engineering and system design
  • Solid understanding of pressurized gas systems
  • Confident handling of relevant standards: DIN EN 13480, AD 2000, PED, BetrSichV
  • Experience with CE documentation, risk assessments, and ideally explosion protection (Ex zones)
  • Excellent command of AutoDesk Inventor, ideally with Vault integration
  • Independent, precise, and reliable working style
  • Team-oriented mindset and enthusiasm for the energy transition
  • Good English skills for collaboration in international contexts

Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
