Interim Senior Finance Officer (Tax/Treasury) · Hybrid

A local government client of mine are on the lookout for a Senior Finance Officer (Tax/Treasury) to join their team on an interim basis.

 

Contract Duration: Until the end of June 2026.

Rate: £150-£200pd

IR35: Inside

Days: 37 hours X 5 days p/w (Could maybe consider 30 hours X 4 days p/w)

Hybrid: Minimum X2 days in office p/w.

 

Main Duties:

  •  Roughly 80% of the role will be Tax/VAT focused.
  •  Completion of VAT returns (can be supported by Senior Accountant – do not necessarily need to have done this before although it is desirable).
  • Check in exercises with VAT Claims.
  • Off Payroll involvement (do not need prior knowledge on this).
  • The client have VAT systems in place and you will be guided through these.
  • Treasury will be about 10-20% of the role.
  • On occasion you will need to monitor the daily treasury, have we got money, supervised investments etc.
  • Once again the client has treasury processes in place and you will be guided through these.

 

Successful candidates

  • Will have experience or knowledge around VAT and VAT returns.
  • Will ideally have some local government finance experience but the client is also very happy accepting candidates from a private sector background.
  • Must be AAT qualified or equivalent.
  • Do not necessarily need to have done treasury before but be willing to learn.
  • Be able to work in office on a hybrid basis.

These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
