Project Manager - Logistics Industry - 12 Month Initial Contract - Germany
Our client is a leading company in the logistics sector globally. They are seeking an experienced Automation Project Manager to lead a large-scale retrofit initiative focused on automation and PLC systems for a market-leading warehousing and robotics company. This role is not hands-on with programming or engineering tasks; instead, it requires strong project management expertise to coordinate technical teams, operations, and external vendors. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring automation solutions are seamlessly integrated into a complex, high-volume warehousing environment
They need you to do the following:
- Oversee and coordinate the PLC and robotics engineering team, ensuring alignment with operational requirements.
- Act as the central link between technical specialists, operations stakeholders, and external vendors.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful execution of retrofit activities.
- Supervise Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and validation processes.
- Ensure all project documentation, compliance records, and reporting are completed to the highest standard.
- Identify risks, track progress, and implement mitigation strategies to keep the project on schedule.
- Drive communication across cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of automation solutions
What essential is needed?
- Proven track record in project management within automation, industrial controls, or large-scale engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of PLC systems, robotics, and automation technologies (conceptual knowledge rather than hands-on programming).
- Experience managing retrofit or commissioning projects, ideally in complex operational environments.
- Familiarity with SAT/FAT processes and vendor management.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
