HSE Supervisor · On-site

We are seeking an experienced HSE Supervisor to oversee health, safety, and environmental compliance on a major infrastructure project involving traction substations, transformer stations, and electrification systems for a cross-border tunnel. This role requires strong knowledge of safety standards and proactive leadership to ensure a safe working environment throughout construction and installation phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor HSE policies and procedures across all site activities.
  • Conduct risk assessments for high-voltage electrical works, confined spaces, and heavy equipment operations.
  • Ensure compliance with German safety regulations (DGUV, Baustellenverordnung) and EU directives.
  • Deliver daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, and HSE training sessions.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; prepare reports and corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, permits, and compliance audits.
  • Liaise with project managers, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure HSE alignment.

 

Essential Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of HSE experience in large infrastructure or electrical projects.
  • Knowledge of high-voltage systems safety and tunnel construction protocols.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills; fluent in English (German is a plus).

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
