We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead the commissioning and handover of a large‑scale hyperscale data‑centre campus delivered under an EPC and multi‑contractor environment. The role will focus on planning, coordinating, and managing commissioning activities across electrical and MEP systems to ensure safe energisation, system integration, and successful client handover.
The position will work closely with EPC project management, electrical and MEP contractors, OEM commissioning teams, controls/BMS integrators, and the independent commissioning authority to deliver phased commissioning and handover of critical infrastructure systems, including power, cooling, controls, and life‑safety systems.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage the overall commissioning strategy, programme, and execution plan for electrical and MEP systems across a hyperscale data‑centre campus.
Coordinate commissioning activities for HV, MV and LV electrical systems, mechanical and cooling systems, backup power, controls, EPMS and BMS.
Lead and coordinate phased energisation, system testing, and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) activities in line with project milestones.
Interface with electrical and MEP subcontractors, OEM commissioning teams, controls integrators, and the client’s independent commissioning authority.
Review, approve, and manage commissioning documentation including commissioning plans, method statements, test procedures, schedules, and reports.
Ensure commissioning activities are executed safely and in compliance with German standards, project specifications, and EPC safety requirements.
Manage commissioning issues, defects, and punch‑list items through to resolution and re‑testing.
Coordinate client witnessing, authority inspections, and final acceptance testing.
Provide leadership and direction to commissioning engineers and subcontract commissioning teams, including freelance and temporary resources.
Support phased handovers, system acceptance, and follow‑on commissioning activities as additional data‑centre buildings are brought online.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Proven experience as a Commissioning Manager on data centres, critical infrastructure, energy, or large industrial projects.
Strong technical background in electrical systems (HV/MV/LV) and MEP integration within mission‑critical environments.
Demonstrated experience managing multi‑contractor commissioning programmes within EPC delivery models.
Solid understanding of commissioning processes, safety management, documentation control, and system handover requirements.
Experience leading Integrated Systems Testing (IST) and client acceptance processes.
Previous experience working on freelance or project‑based commissioning assignments is advantageous.
Strong leadership, coordination, problem‑solving, and technical communication skills.
