We are seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support the commissioning and handover of a large‑scale hyperscale data‑centre campus in the Berlin–Brandenburg region. The role will focus on the testing, energisation, and commissioning of HV, MV and LV electrical systems delivered under an EPC and multi‑contractor environment.
The position will work closely with electrical installation contractors, OEMs, controls/BMS teams, and the independent commissioning authority to ensure systems are safely commissioned, fully integrated, and ready for client handover across multiple project phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute commissioning activities for HV, MV and LV electrical systems within a hyperscale data‑centre environment.
- Support energisation and testing of:
- HV and MV substations
- Transformers and switchgear
- MV ring main units and LV distribution systems
- UPS and generator interfaces
- Perform and/or witness FATs and SATs, including factory and site acceptance testing with OEMs.
- Carry out and support protection and relay testing, functional testing, and performance verification.
- Support Integrated Systems Testing (IST) in coordination with mechanical, controls, EPMS and BMS teams.
- Interface with electrical subcontractors, EPC commissioning management, OEM representatives, and the client’s commissioning authority.
- Identify, record, and resolve commissioning issues, defects, and punch‑list items.
- Prepare and review commissioning documentation, including:
- Commissioning procedures and method statements
- Test scripts, check sheets, and reports
- Red‑line drawings and as‑built documentation
- Ensure commissioning activities comply with German standards, safety regulations, and project‑specific requirements.
- Support authority inspections, client witnessing, and final handover activities.
- Provide commissioning support during phased handovers and follow‑on commissioning scopes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Proven experience as an Electrical Commissioning Engineer on data centres, critical infrastructure, energy, or large industrial projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of HV, MV and LV electrical systems.
- Hands‑on experience with:
- Energisation procedures
- Protection and relay testing
- FAT/SAT execution
- Electrical system integration
- Experience working within EPC or multi‑contractor project environments.
- Strong understanding of commissioning documentation, safety procedures, and system handover processes.
- Previous experience working on freelance or project‑based assignments is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in site‑based, fast‑paced commissioning teams.
