Large-Scale Hyperscale Data Centre Project (Confidential)

Project Overview

We are supporting a major hyperscale data centre development in Europe, comprising multiple buildings delivered through a phased, long-term construction programme. We are seeking experienced Freelance Electrical Engineers to support the design, construction, and commissioning phases on a confidential basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of electrical distribution systems for hyperscale or mission-critical facilities
  • Work on medium- and high-voltage infrastructure, including substations and utility connections
  • Support backup power systems (UPS, generators, redundancy)
  • Coordinate with MEP teams, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Review drawings, specifications, and installation methodologies
  • Provide engineering support through construction, testing, commissioning, and handover
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and best practices

Requirements

  • Qualification in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience on large-scale data centre or mission-critical projects
  • Strong knowledge of HV/LV systems, power resilience, and redundancy
  • Experience in complex construction environments
  • Ability to operate independently in a freelance / contract role
  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills

Desirable

  • Experience on hyperscale or colocation data centres
  • Exposure to phased delivery programmes
  • Experience on European projects
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency and power optimisation

Academy:
Week 1 is a series of remote sessions to learn all things systems, followed by a 1 week academy process which is a mixture of classroom and deskside this will be in one of our UK offices and usually consists of 3-8 other consultants all starting their journey together.

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
