Freelance Industrial Engineer (SAP EWM)
Location: Limburg region, Netherlands
Contract: Freelance / Interim – 12 months
About the Role
A global manufacturing organisation in the medical technology sector is seeking a Freelance Industrial Engineer with strong SAP EWM (Extended Warehouse Management) expertise to support warehouse and manufacturing optimisation initiatives. The role focuses on improving material flow, capacity, and efficiency through Lean principles and SAP-driven process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the SAP EWM subject matter expert for warehouse and material flow optimisation
- Analyse demand forecasts to perform capacity planning for space, equipment, and labour
- Lead Lean and continuous improvement initiatives using DMAIC and structured problem solving
- Optimise warehouse layouts, material flows, and storage concepts in line with SAP EWM processes
- Conduct time studies and work analysis to eliminate waste and improve utilisation
- Design and implement layout and space improvements (AutoCAD or similar tools)
- Support new product introductions by aligning warehouse and production processes
- Facilitate Kaizen events to drive operational excellence
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (Level 8) or higher in Industrial Engineering or similar
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Industrial Engineering, Operational Excellence, or Warehouse Engineering
- Mandatory: Strong hands-on experience with SAP EWM (Extended Warehouse Management)
- Solid knowledge of Lean manufacturing and logistics optimisation
- Able to operate independently in a complex manufacturing environment
