Interim Head of Corporate Finance · Hybrid

A local government client of g2 in the North West of England are currently on the lookout for an Interim Head of Finance to join their team following a chain of people needing to act up.

 

Contract Duration: 6 months +

Location: North West England

Rate: DOE

IR35: Inside

Hybrid: Minimum X1 day in office per week.

Days: 5 days per week is the preference (could also consider 4 days per week, or 9 days per fortnight).

Start Date: ASAP

 

You will:

 

  • Have X5 direct reportees & another 20 indirect.
  • Have general Chief Accountant/Head of Corporate Finance duties, managing direct reportees which includes revenue, capital, budget setting, treasury and systems who are 5 very hands on and technical teams.
  • Oversee final accounts for completion early June.
  • Q4 outturn reports to be completed for Mid-May.
  • Involvement in 27/28 budget setting which will begin in June.
  • As the current Head of Corporate Finance is needing to act up, there will be support available there from someone who knows the position inside out.
  • The council have a very detailed timetable for the closedown period over the next 3-4 months e.g. what specific tasks need to be done on specific days and who by etc. and it will be your role to ensure this runs effectively.

 

 

Successful candidates:

  • Must be at Chief Accountant level or have extensive experience managing and leading finance staff e.g. Head of Finance, Group Accountant, Strategic Finance Manager etc.
  • Must be fully qualified accountants.
  • Must have extensive corporate finance/final accounts experience.
  • It is very much preferred that candidates have specific local authority experience working at this level but the client are also happy to consider candidates who have worked in the same capacity for the Police, Fire Service or for a Housing Association.
  • It is not essential but would be a bonus if candidates also have treasury and collection fund experience.

Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
