We’re supporting a leading contractor involved in the early phases of a landmark data center megaproject, and they are now looking to appoint a Freelance Junior HSE Manager to support health, safety, and environmental activities across the full project lifecycle.
This is a high‑visibility role where you will help drive safety performance, support compliance, and contribute to the successful execution of one of Europe’s most ambitious industrial developments.
Location: Zaragoza
Rate: Negotiable
Requirement: EU passport
Contract: 12 months (strong possibility of extension)
Role Overview
Reporting functionally to the HSE Lead and operationally to the Area Director, the Junior HSE Manager will support day‑to‑day health, safety, and environmental oversight across construction and commissioning activities. You will help ensure alignment between site teams, contractors, suppliers, and the client organisation to maintain the highest safety standards.
Fluency in Spanish and English is essential, as you will interface with local teams in Spain and international partners across Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of the project’s HSE strategy, plans, and procedures.
- Assist in monitoring site activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and project requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and toolbox talks alongside senior HSE staff.
- Help manage incident reporting, investigation follow‑up, and corrective action tracking.
- Promote a proactive safety culture across all project teams and subcontractors.
- Support risk assessments, method statement reviews, and permit‑to‑work processes.
- Facilitate communication between Spanish‑based teams, international contractors, and client stakeholders.
- Contribute to HSE reporting, documentation, and performance metrics for senior leadership.
- Assist in identifying emerging risks and supporting mitigation measures.
Experience & Skill Requirements
- Experience in HSE roles within construction, industrial, or large‑scale project environments.
- Understanding of HSE legislation, best practices, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience working with contractors or owners’ teams; a proactive, ownership‑driven mindset is valued.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to be hands‑on and visible on site.
- Comfortable working in fast‑paced environments with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence safe behaviours.
- Competence in incident reporting, risk assessment, and safety documentation.
- Fluent Spanish and English (mandatory).
Contract Details
