Job Role: Site Manager – Solar PV & Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

Type of Job: Freelance

Duration: 9 Months (Possible Extension)

I am working with an Engineering company that specialise in Renewable Energy projects who are actively hiring for a Freelance Site Manager (Solar PV + BESS). They are seeking an individual with extensive experience supervising site construction activities for large‑scale solar and battery storage projects. To be considered, you must have 5–10 years of site leadership experience and a proven track record managing utility‑scale Solar PV and/or BESS plants. You will join the project to support the customer with on‑site coordination, contractor supervision, installation quality and safety oversight.

 

Essential Skills:

  • Must be a strong communicator in English, written and verbally. High B2/C1 proficiency is required.
  • A minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in site‑based construction, commissioning or installation roles.
  • At least 5 years’ experience working on utility‑scale Solar PV and/or BESS projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of PV installation processes, inverter stations, LV/MV distribution, battery containers, PCS/inverters, and SCADA interfaces.
  • Solid understanding of Swedish construction & electrical standards (e.g., Elsäkerhetsverket requirements, AFS work environment rules, relevant EU directives).
  • Confident reviewing and advising on site QA/QC documentation, RAMS, installation method statements, and contractor performance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting key site and contractor coordination meetings
  • Overseeing all Solar PV and BESS installation works
  • Monitoring installation quality for PV modules, mounting structures, cabling, inverters, switchgear and battery containers
  • Ensuring safe and compliant MV/LV and DC installation activities
  • Verifying site documentation including ITPs, FAT/SAT reports, as‑built records
  • Ensuring the project is delivered according to Swedish regulations, manufacturer specifications, and client standards

Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
