Construction Supervisor – Hydrogen Project (Freelance)

Location: Germany

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction Supervisor to support a large-scale Hydrogen project in Germany. This freelance position will oversee on-site construction activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, on schedule, within scope, and in compliance with German regulations and project specifications.

The successful candidate will have strong experience in industrial construction environments such as hydrogen, oil & gas, petrochemical, energy, or large-scale infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily construction activities on-site for hydrogen production and/or storage facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with German HSE regulations and project-specific safety standards.
  • Monitor contractors and subcontractors to ensure adherence to quality, schedule, and budget requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and commissioning teams.
  • Conduct site inspections and quality checks.
  • Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and method statements.
  • Report progress, risks, and issues to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure all works comply with applicable German and EU regulations.
  • Support commissioning and handover activities where required.
  • Maintain accurate site documentation and reporting.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Construction Supervisor or similar role on industrial projects.
  • Experience working on Hydrogen, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Renewable Energy projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction site HSE management.
  • Familiarity with German construction regulations and standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and P&IDs.
  • Fluent in German and/or English (German preferred).
  • Strong leadership and contractor coordination skills.
  • Valid right to work in Germany (or ability to operate as a freelancer within Germany).
  • Relevant technical qualification (Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent).

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous experience on Green Hydrogen or Power-to-X projects.
  • Experience with high-pressure piping systems and gas infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of ATEX environments.
  • Certification in site safety management (e.g., SCC, NEBOSH or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting commissioning and start-up phases.
  • Familiarity with EPC project environments.
  • First aid and site safety certifications.
