Our client, a leading equipment manufacturing company based in the Cologne region, is seeking an experienced Operational Buyer to support procurement activities for technically complex components and systems. They are looking for freelancers for short-term cover, and are open to permanent candidates to start later in the year.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineering, production, and suppliers to ensure cost-effective, high-quality, and timely sourcing machine and manufacturing parts and equipment.
The client are looking for candidates with a background working in buying, procurement, supply chain, etc. with a good understanding of technical specifications in manufacturing industries.
START: ASAP
RATE: Competitive market rates
LOCATION: Cologne Region, Germany
HOURS: 40 hours per week
Professional Experience
- 4+ years of experience in technical purchasing within manufacturing, ideally equipment or machinery.
- Experience sourcing:
- Machined and fabricated parts
- Castings and forgings
- Electrical components
- Hydraulic/pneumatic systems
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP).
- Understanding of technical drawings and specifications, bill of materials.
Languages
- Fluent English skills required, German beneficial but not essential
The company is growing, they are looking to continue their developing in the coming years and this role is an essential part of this process. Their overall requirement is for a permanent member of staff to join, however due to their workload, they need a freelance buyer to cover the vacancy in the meantime, and there will be the opportunity to join permanently after the interim period.
