Job Opportunity – Interim Capital/Assets Accountant – 6 Month Contract
A local government client are currently on the lookout for a Capital/Assets Accountant to join their team on an interim basis for an initial 6 month period.
Contract Duration: 6 Months +
Rate: DOE
IR35: Inside
Hybrid: Preference is X1 day in office per week. Could maybe consider 100% remote working for candidates situated further afar.
Days: Full time (could also consider part time, minimum of X3 days per week).
Start Date: Beginning of April.
Main Duties:
- No managerial responsibilities, this will be a purely hands on technical accounting role.
- Closedown the capital accounts for 25/26.
- End to end assets accounting, a lot of revaluations, some depreciations and impairments, small number of intangibles.
- Capital additions, other team members finalise the values, your job will be to allocate them to the right place.
- There is no HRA so you will be dealing with purely general fund assets.
- There may be some overlap but another team member will be doing capital finance business partnering, monitoring the capital programme etc.
- Respond to audit queries on the assets accounts and act as a liaison on the capital accounts.
Successful candidates:
- Must have specific Local Authority, Fire or Police service experience doing technical capital/assets accounting before with a strong understanding of Local Authority Code of Practice.
- Must have end to end assets accounting experience.
- Must be a fully qualified accountant.
