Overview

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Work Preparator or Site Engineer to support a highly complex, large‑scale high‑rise residential development in Leiden. The project comprises a 71,000 sqm high‑rise apartment building, requiring a specialist with strong knowledge of groundwork, piling, and facade construction. This role closely aligns with a white‑collar Site Engineer position.

Contract type – Freelance

Level – 5–10-year experience (medium to senior seniority)

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and coordinate all technical, material, and planning requirements for groundwork, piling, and façade works.
  • Supervise the blasting, piling, trenching and pouring activities.
  • Review project drawings, technical specifications, and execution plans, ensuring accuracy and buildability.
  • Identify risks, clashes, and technical issues, proposing effective solutions.
  • Assist in preparing work packages, method statements, and detailed work plans.
  • Ensure compliance with Dutch construction standards and project quality requirements.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years’ experience as a Work Preparator
  • Strong background in groundwork, piling, and façade construction.
  • Experience on complex construction projects, ideally high rise.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English
  • Based near or willing to commute to Leiden.

Week 1 is a series of remote sessions to learn all things systems, followed by a 1 week academy process which is a mixture of classroom and deskside this will be in one of our UK offices and usually consists of 3-8 other consultants all starting their journey together.

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
