Project Manager - Automation - Substations & Automation - Competitive Salary - North-Rhine Westphalia - Permanent
Our client operate extensively within the field of project and construction management for plant engineering/substation projects, while their sister company operates as a system integrator for control technology, automation and power electronics.

Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Manage automation projects end‑to‑end — from conceptual design through implementation, testing, and final commissioning.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, resource plans, budgets, and risk assessments.
- Coordinate and align cross‑functional engineering disciplines, including automation, electrical engineering, SCADA, and protection & control.
Technical & Compliance Management
- Ensure all project deliverables comply with applicable standards and regulations (e.g., IEC, VDE, EN, utility requirements).
- Serve as the primary technical and commercial interface for customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
Engineering & Documentation
- Review and validate automation concepts, P&IDs, control philosophies, and functional design specifications.
- Oversee design, configuration, and integration of PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, PCS7, ABB 800xA, Hitachi Energy MicroSCADA).
- Ensure smooth integration between automation systems, electrical infrastructure, and protection/control technologies.
Testing & Commissioning Support
- Plan and support all testing activities including FAT, SAT, and interface tests for substation automation systems.
- Provide on‑site support during commissioning phases as required.
Ideal Profile (experience)
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable technical field.
- Proven experience in project management within automation, plant engineering, power systems, or substation automation.
- (Extensive experience as a Project Engineer will also be considered.)
- Strong command of both English and German (written and spoken).
- Willingness to travel for customer meetings, FAT/SAT activities, and commissioning assignments.
