Role Overview

The client seeking a Project Engineer to support the delivery of specialist fire, and security systems on a major data centre project in Austria.

The Project Engineer will play a key role in coordinating the engineering, installation, and pre‑commissioning of the clients systems, working closely with the Project Manager, Commissioning Engineers, subcontractors, and client teams. The role sits upstream of commissioning, ensuring systems are correctly installed, compliant, and fully prepared for final testing, client demonstrations, and handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager with the technical delivery of fire alarm & detection, disabled systems, access control, CCTV, intruder, and intercom systems
  • Coordinate installation activities with subcontractors, MEP contractors, and the main contractor
  • Review and manage technical documentation including drawings, specifications, RFIs, and cause & effect matrices
  • Ensure installations comply with project specifications, design standards, fire strategy, and applicable British/European regulations
  • Manage pre‑commissioning activities, ensuring systems are correctly configured and ready for commissioning
  • Support Commissioning Engineers during testing, witness testing, and integrated systems demonstrations
  • Identify technical, quality, or programme risks and assist the Project Manager in implementing mitigation measures
  • Assist with the preparation of O&M manuals, test records, and handover documentation

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Experience working as a Project Engineer, Systems Engineer, or Package Engineer
  • Strong background in fire, and/or security systems
  • Exposure to data centre or mission‑critical environments
  • Good understanding of commissioning requirements and construction sequencing
  • Strong coordination, communication, and documentation skills

Desirable

  • Background in commissioning, ELV, or systems integration
  • Familiarity with systems such as Siemens, Honeywell/Gent, Advanced, Faast/Xtralis, Baldwin Boxall, Lenel, AMAG, Axis, Milestone
  • Experience working on European or rotational projects
  • German language skills (beneficial, not essential)
