We are supporting a major organisation delivering one of Sweden’s most significant metro‑related infrastructure programmes, and they are now seeking to appoint an experienced BAS‑U to ensure site safety coordination and regulatory compliance during a critical phase of delivery.
This is an urgent, high‑impact position where you will act as the on‑site safety lead, maintaining BAS‑U responsibilities, supporting the project team, and ensuring uninterrupted progress on a long‑term construction programme.
Location: Stockholm (on‑site, no accommodation provided)
Requirement: Professional Swedish and English
Contract: 6‑month contract (project duration 2 years)
Start: Immediate
Role Overview
Due to the unexpected departure of the on‑site BAS‑U, the project requires an immediate replacement. The hiring manager is BAS‑U certified and can temporarily cover responsibilities, but by mid‑May this role becomes essential for continued compliance and safe project execution.
You will be responsible for coordinating safety activities, ensuring adherence to Swedish construction regulations, and overseeing safe working practices across a complex metro or large‑scale infrastructure environment. Candidates without sufficient BAS‑U experience have previously been rejected, so relevant background is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as BAS‑U on a major metro or similar infrastructure project.
- Ensure compliance with Swedish Work Environment Authority regulations.
- Coordinate safety activities across contractors, subcontractors, and site teams.
- Monitor site conditions, identify risks, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain documentation, safety plans, and regulatory reporting.
- Support the project team in maintaining safe and efficient site operations.
- Provide continuity and stability during a critical delivery phase.
Experience & Skill Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as BAS‑U on metro, rail, or comparable large‑scale projects.
- Fluent Swedish (client requirement).
- Strong understanding of construction safety coordination and regulatory frameworks.
- Proven ability to work on complex, fast‑moving infrastructure sites.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to start immediately.
Contract Details
This is a 6‑month contract supporting a 2‑year infrastructure programme. The role is on‑site in Stockholm, with no accommodation provided. Immediate interviews are taking place due to project urgency.
