Project Health Safety Environment Manager · On-site

HSE Lead (Critical Infrastructure – Data Centre)

Location: Finland (site-based)

Employment Type: Full-time

Reporting to: Site Director

 

Role overview

We’re looking for an experienced HSE Lead to take ownership of health, safety, and environmental performance on a large critical infrastructure site in Finland.

The role covers both construction and live 24/7 operations in a high-risk data centre environment. You’ll be responsible for ensuring safe working practices, strong contractor control, and full compliance with local HSE requirements, while supporting uninterrupted critical operations.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Lead all site HSE activities and act as main safety authority
  • Manage contractor safety, inspections, and Permit-to-Work systems
  • Support safe execution of high-risk activities (electrical, hot work, lifting, etc.)
  • Maintain risk assessments and site risk registers
  • Oversee environmental compliance (waste, chemicals, emissions, spill prevention)
  • Lead incident investigations and corrective actions
  • Deliver inductions, training, and competency tracking
  • Support emergency preparedness and site drills
  • Work closely with facilities, engineering, and security teams

What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years HSE experience in data centres, construction, industrial, energy, or utilities
  • Experience in both construction and operational environments
  • Strong knowledge of PTW, LOTO, contractor management, and incident investigation
  • Good understanding of environmental compliance
  • Comfortable working in high-risk, fast-paced environments
  • Fluent in Finnish and English

Academy:
Week 1 is a series of remote sessions to learn all things systems, followed by a 1 week academy process which is a mixture of classroom and deskside this will be in one of our UK offices and usually consists of 3-8 other consultants all starting their journey together.

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
