Freelance HSE Consultant – LNG Project near Hamburg

Location: Near Hamburg, Germany

Contract Type: Freelance / Contract

Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance HSE Consultant to support a major LNG infrastructure project near Hamburg. The role will focus on maintaining high health, safety, and environmental standards across construction and operational activities on site.

The successful candidate will work closely with project management, contractors, and site teams to ensure compliance with German HSE regulations, project procedures, and industry best practices within a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and enforce HSE compliance across project activities
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
  • Support toolbox talks, safety briefings, and incident investigations
  • Review RAMS, permits to work, and contractor documentation
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and project HSE standards
  • Promote a strong safety culture across multidisciplinary teams
  • Support reporting, documentation, and corrective action tracking
  • Liaise with contractors, engineers, and project stakeholders on HSE matters

Requirements

  • Previous experience within LNG, oil & gas, energy, or large industrial projects
  • Strong understanding of HSE legislation and site safety procedures
  • Experience on construction or commissioning projects preferred
  • Relevant HSE certifications (NEBOSH, IOSH, SCC, or equivalent)
  • Fluent English required; German is advantageous
  • Ability to work independently within a dynamic project environment

Our Three Pillars of Training

Academy:
Week 1 is a series of remote sessions to learn all things systems, followed by a 1 week academy process which is a mixture of classroom and deskside this will be in one of our UK offices and usually consists of 3-8 other consultants all starting their journey together.

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
