Job Opportunity – Interim Financial Planning Accountant – 6 Months Contract
A local authority client is currently on the lookout for a Fully Qualified Accountant to join their team to lead on budget setting and work closely with the S151 and Deputy S151 to support on a range of financial tasks within the council.
Job Role: Interim Financial Planning Accountant
Contract Duration: 6 Months +
Rate: DOE
IR35: Inside
Hybrid: X1 day in office per week (could possibly consider 100% working for the right candidate).
Days: 5 days per week. (could also possibly consider X4 days per week).
Start Date: ASAP
Main duties:
- Leading on budget setting for 2027/28 whilst working closely with S151 and Deputy S151 Officers.
- Be happy to work on other areas across finance such as:
- Financial Modelling – e.g. capital projects, implementing new governance processes, creating new bid process for increased budgets, putting in bids for growth of capital projects, working with services on modelling, setting up new approval processes for capital & revenue etc.
- Support the Chief Accountant with audit queries in relation to the statement of accounts.
- Collection Funds, Capital/Leasing, Treasury etc.
- This is purely a hands on role and there will be no management responsibilities.
Candidates:
- Must be a fully qualified accountant.
- Have previous experience leading on budget setting specifically for a local authority.
- Must have previous experience working at a high level and liaising with SLT, S151/Deputy S151 Officers etc. – High level stakeholder engagement.
- Must be a self starter, proactive individual who is used to working on their own initiative.
