Mechanical Supervisor · On-Site
We're reaching out as we're currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to assist our client with their flagship LNG project in Lower Saxony, Germany.
This is a permanent position with a competitive salary, our client will also assist with accommodation and travel near the site. Our client are one of the most prominent EPC contractors in the industry, having successfully delivered numerous oil & gas projects (including, Hydrogen, Power to X and LNG) across Europe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day supervision of EPC contractors during all phases of mechanical construction.
- Ensure works are performed in accordance with project specifications, approved procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Monitor welding, fabrication, installation, testing, and completion activities associated with LNG storage tanks and related mechanical systems.
- Track construction progress against schedule and proactively identify potential delays or risks.
- Act as the primary mechanical authority on site, providing technical guidance and clarification to EPC contractors.
- Review drawings, specifications, procedures, and technical documents to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve mechanical issues, non-conformances, and construction challenges.
- Support the review and assessment of contractor claims, change requests, and variation orders.
- Ensure all mechanical construction activities comply with applicable German, EU, and international codes and standards relevant to LNG facilities.
- Champion a strong safety culture and actively promote adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and quality surveillance activities to verify compliance and workmanship.
- Ensure quality control processes, testing, inspections, and documentation are fully implemented.
- Serve as the key interface between the Owner's Engineering Team, EPC contractors, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.
- Support and oversee pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for mechanical systems associated with LNG tank facilities.
Key Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional certifications related to welding, NDT, inspection, or mechanical construction supervision are highly desirable.
- Relevant HSE qualifications and safety training
- 10 years' experience within large-scale industrial, oil & gas, LNG, petrochemical, or energy infrastructure projects.
- Proven track record supervising the construction of LNG storages tank or similar large-scale cryogenic or heavy industrial facilities.
- Strong experience overseeing EPC contractors in a client-side or owner's representative capacity.
- Strong knowledge of German, European, and international engineering codes, standards, and regulations.
- Experience with welding, fabrication, inspection, testing, commissioning, and quality assurance processes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Professional proficiency in English is key
- German language skills are advantageous
Interviews are commencing from Monday of next week. The process is two-stages, the first being a call over Teams' with the Project Manager and a HR representative, with the second being a follow-up call over Teams' with the Project Manager and the Project Director.
