Freelance MEP Site Manager

 

Location: Berlin, Germany

Project: Data Centre Construction

Contract Type: Freelance / Contract

Duration: 8-12 months

 

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Freelance MEP Site Manager to join a major data centre project in Berlin. The successful candidate will be responsible for the on-site management and coordination of all mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works, ensuring safe, high-quality delivery in line with programme requirements.

This role requires a strong background in mission-critical environments, with experience managing complex MEP installations and coordinating multiple subcontractors through installation, commissioning, and handover phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day delivery of all MEP works on site.
  • Manage and coordinate MEP subcontractors to ensure works are completed safely, on time, and to specification.
  • Monitor installation progress and maintain programme milestones.
  • Coordinate interfaces between MEP, civil, structural, and architectural teams.
  • Conduct quality inspections and ensure compliance with project standards.
  • Review and manage RAMS, permits, and health & safety procedures.
  • Identify and resolve technical and construction-related issues.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an MEP Site Manager on large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical distribution, UPS systems, generators, cooling systems, BMS, fire protection, and associated infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings and technical specifications.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent English and German required

Qualifications

  • Degree, HNC/HND, or trade background in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
  • Relevant site management and health & safety qualifications (SMSTS, IOSH, or equivalent preferred).
