Freelance Electrical Engineer – Substation & HV Infrastructure
Location: Berlin, Germany (Hybrid options available)
Duration: 12+ Months Contract
Project Overview
Join a leading engineering firm delivering critical grid connections and power distribution solutions for Germany's expanding digital infrastructure. You will play a key role in designing, engineering, and overseeing the implementation of high-voltage substations that power major data center.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Engineering: Lead or support the electrical engineering design for high-voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) substations.
- Technical Specifications: Develop layouts, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications for HV equipment and high-voltage cable routing
- Grid Connection: Coordinate with local grid operators (DSOs/TSOs) to ensure compliance with German grid codes and connection requirements.
- Vendor & Stakeholder Alignment: Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and clients to ensure technical alignment from design through to commissioning.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Proven track record in electrical engineering specifically focused on substation design, high-voltage cabling, or grid infrastructural.
- Industry Context: Previous experience working on large-scale infrastructure, industrial plants, or data center power supply projects is highly desirable.
- Local Compliance: Solid understanding of German standards (VDE, DIN) and grid connection process
- Languages: Native or professional fluency in German is mandatory; professional proficiency in English is an as
- Status: Available as an independent freelancer/contractor (Freiberufler or Gewerbetreibender) based in or willing to travel to Berlin.
