Construction Project Manager · On-Site

The Project

A major hyperscale data centre construction programme in Berlin requires an experienced freelance Construction Project Manager to drive delivery throughout the build phase. This is a fast-paced, mission-critical project where strong on-site leadership is essential to protecting programme milestones, maintaining quality standards, and achieving successful handover dates.

 

The Role

Reporting to the Project Director, you will take ownership of construction delivery on site, coordinating contractors and trades across CSA and MEP scopes to ensure the project is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to specification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day construction activities on site, driving progress against the project programme.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and trades across CSA (Civil, Structural & Architectural) and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) works.
  • Oversee quality assurance and ensure all works are delivered to specification and client standards.
  • Monitor and report on programme, cost, and project progress to senior leadership.
  • Chair site meetings and manage RFIs, snagging activities, and project close-out.
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements across the site.
  • Manage interfaces between design, procurement, and construction teams to maintain project momentum.
  • Support commissioning readiness, testing activities, and final handover.
Essential Requirements
  • Proven Construction Project Management experience on data centre or other mission-critical projects (essential).
  • Strong track record of delivering large-scale construction projects on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrable experience coordinating contractors across both CSA and MEP scopes.
  • Sound knowledge of construction health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and contractor management skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure construction environment.
  • Fluent English language skills (German language skills are not required).
Desirable Experience
  • Previous experience working on hyperscale or colocation data centre developments.
  • Experience delivering projects within the DACH region.
  • Commissioning and handover experience on live or operational data centre projects.
