About the Opportunity

On behalf of one of the largest and most respected engineering and infrastructure firms in the Netherlands, we are seeking an experienced Hoofduitvoerder (Lead Site Supervisor) to oversee the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects across multiple locations nationwide.

This is an excellent opportunity for a freelance professional with a strong background in civil engineering, infrastructure construction, and site management to join a high-profile portfolio of projects that are shaping the future of Dutch infrastructure.

Location: Multiple project sites across the Netherlands

Contract Type: Freelance / ZZP

Duration: 12-Month Contract (with potential extension)

Language: Dutch Preferred

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily site operations across large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Manage site teams, subcontractors, and specialist contractors to ensure safe and efficient project execution.
  • Ensure works are delivered in line with project schedules, budgets, and quality requirements.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively identify and resolve operational challenges.
  • Coordinate closely with project managers, engineers, clients, and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with Dutch health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, toolbox talks, and progress meetings.
  • Review project documentation, method statements, and work plans.
  • Manage material deliveries, resource allocation, and workforce planning.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate project reporting and site records.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Hoofduitvoerder, Senior Site Supervisor, or equivalent role within infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
  • Strong experience managing large-scale projects such as roads, highways, bridges, rail, utilities, or other complex infrastructure works.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong understanding of Dutch construction regulations, safety standards, and quality procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a dynamic project environment.
  • Valid VCA certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Driving license and willingness to travel between project locations across the Netherlands.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Dutch language skills are strongly preferred.
  • Relevant technical education in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience working for major engineering, construction, or infrastructure contractors.
  • Knowledge of modern project management and reporting tools.

Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
