Role Overview:
The EHS Manager / EHS Lead is responsible for leading and implementing Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs across large-scale construction and infrastructure projects. The role will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure the highest standards of safety performance, regulatory compliance, environmental stewardship, and risk management throughout all phases of project delivery.
The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to foster a proactive safety culture, drive continuous improvement, and ensure that all activities are executed in accordance with project, regulatory, and industry EHS requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of project EHS strategies, plans, and procedures.
- Provide EHS leadership throughout all project phases, including planning, mobilization, construction, commissioning, closeout, and handover.
- Promote a positive safety culture and ensure consistent application of EHS standards across all project activities.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and assessments to verify compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
- Support project teams in identifying, assessing, and mitigating workplace hazards and operational risks.
- Lead incident investigations and apply appropriate root cause analysis techniques to identify corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor and report EHS performance metrics, trends, and key performance indicators.
- Ensure compliance with local legislation, client requirements, and company EHS policies and procedures.
- Coordinate emergency response planning and preparedness activities.
- Deliver EHS training, awareness programs, toolbox talks, and safety campaigns.
- Support contractor management processes, including EHS evaluations, onboarding, and performance monitoring.
- Facilitate lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project safety performance.
- Act as the primary EHS point of contact for project leadership, clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum 10 years of construction experience.
- Minimum 5 years of direct experience working within high-risk environments and large-scale construction and/or infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in an EHS Manager, EHS Lead, EHS Supervisor, HSE Manager, or equivalent role.
- Strong understanding of construction safety practices, risk management, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated experience conducting incident investigations and applying root cause analysis methodologies.
- Experience developing and implementing EHS management systems, procedures, and improvement programs.
- Experience supporting complex, multi-contractor project environments.
- Relevant professional EHS certifications are desirable.
