Automation Engineer – Antwerp
Our client in Antwerp is expanding their automation capabilities and is looking for a skilled Automation Engineer who thrives on solving complex production challenges. About the Opportunity
You’ll join a forward‑thinking production environment where automation is central to daily operations. Your mission is to troubleshoot issues, enhance machine performance, and drive continuous improvement across the plant. This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys diving into technical details and turning production lines into efficient, reliable systems.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Tackling automation‑related production problems to reduce downtime and boost efficiency
- Programming, modifying, and optimising Siemens PLCs using TIA Portal
- Working with FANUC robots to refine paths, resolve errors, and improve performance
- Supporting upgrades, retrofits, and commissioning of new automated equipment
- Collaborating closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams
- Identifying bottlenecks and proposing smart, data‑driven improvements
- Ensuring all automation work meets safety, quality, and operational standards
- Documenting changes and technical insights clearly and consistently
What You Bring
- Strong experience with Siemens PLCs
- Solid proficiency in TIA Portal
- Hands‑on experience with FANUC robots
- A deep understanding of industrial automation and machine control
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced production environment
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Nice to Have
- Experience with SCADA or HMI systems
- Knowledge of industrial networks (Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP)
- Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, OEE)
- Familiarity with machine safety standards or safety PLCs
