BESS Project Manager · Hybrid

G2 are supporting a large German EPC to recruit a Freelance Project Manager to oversee specialised BESS construction projects, in particular for the Mitnetz area.

 

Industry – Renewable Energy (Battery Energy Storage Systems)

Duration – 12 months+

Location – Germany, North-West

Type of Role – Freelance

Languages – German C1+

 

Responsibilities:

• Leading the delivery of utility‑scale BESS projects from early construction through commissioning and handover.

• Coordinating civil, mechanical and electrical workstreams, ensuring alignment with design, project plans and EPC requirements.

• Managing subcontractors, ensuring safe, compliant and timely installation of all BESS components and infrastructure.

• Overseeing documentation, project KPIs, risk management, stakeholder communication and on‑site decision‑making.

• Ensuring all works comply with design drawings, project specifications and contractual obligations.

 

Requirements to be considered:

• Qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related technical discipline.

• Proven experience as a Project Manager on utility‑scale BESS construction projects.

• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, EPC processes, and multi‑discipline project delivery.

• Strong communication and reporting skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.

• Right to work in Germany.

Academy:
Week 1 is a series of remote sessions to learn all things systems, followed by a 1 week academy process which is a mixture of classroom and deskside this will be in one of our UK offices and usually consists of 3-8 other consultants all starting their journey together.

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
