Civil Design Engineer - Contract/Freelance

Berlin (Hybrid) | 12-Month Contract | €80-€100/hour (DOE)

Are you a skilled Civil Design Engineer looking to work on impactful infrastructure and building projects in one of Europe's most dynamic cities?

We're partnering with a leading engineering consultancy in Berlin seeking an experienced engineer to support the design, analysis, and documentation of complex civil and structural systems across commercial, residential, and industrial sectors.

This hybrid freelance/contract position is ideal for engineers who value flexibility, autonomy, and high-impact technical work.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Perform detailed civil and structural design and analysis in accordance with Eurocode and DIN standards
  • Develop and review technical drawings and 3D models using tools like AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM software
  • Collaborate closely with architects, project managers, and engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure all designs comply with local regulations, safety codes, and sustainability best practices

What We're Looking For:

  • 5+ years of civil or structural engineering experience
  • Proficiency in RFEM, SCIA Engineer, or STAAD.Pro
  • In-depth knowledge of Eurocodes and DIN standards
  • Fluent in English
  • Experience with commercial, residential, or industrial design projects

Good to Have:

  • German language skills (B2 level or higher)
  • Based in Berlin or open to relocation within Germany
  • Familiarity with Berlin's local building codes or permitting processes

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
