Commissioning Engineer

Position: Commissioning Engineer - Flue Gas Treatment (m/f/d)

Location: Hamburg, Germany

Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts (Rotations 4 days on / 4 days off)

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support the cold and hot commissioning phases of a flue gas treatment system at an industrial facility in Hamburg Germany. This is a key role within a multidisciplinary project team focused on the efficient and compliant start-up of environmental control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the commissioning and start-up of the flue gas cleaning system, including both cold and hot phases
  • Operate and monitor the system using PCS7 (both control room and field-based activities)
  • Execute system function checks, loop testing, and troubleshooting during commissioning
  • Collaborate with automation, process, and mechanical teams to ensure integrated system readiness
  • Review and validate commissioning procedures and checklists
  • Identify and escalate technical issues; coordinate resolution with the engineering team
  • Ensure adherence to environmental, safety, and operational standards
  • Maintain accurate and detailed commissioning records, logbooks, and technical reports
  • Provide handover documentation and operational support to site operations personnel

Candidate Profile:

  • Proven experience in commissioning flue gas treatment, emissions control, or related industrial gas processing systems
  • Solid understanding of PCS7 or similar distributed control systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across mechanical, electrical, and control interfaces
  • Familiarity with international commissioning standards and environmental compliance requirements
  • Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic project environment
  • Fluent in English (German language skills are an advantage)
  • EU work authorisation preferred

These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
