About the Role
We are hiring an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead commissioning efforts on a waste-to-energy (WtE) power plant project in Frankfurt. This freelance position is ideal for a hands-on professional with deep experience in energy-from-waste, thermal generation, or industrial power facilities.
You will be responsible for overseeing commissioning from planning to handover, ensuring the plant meets performance, safety, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate mechanical, electrical, and I&C commissioning activities across all plant systems, including turbines, boilers, fuel feed, and flue gas treatment.
- Develop detailed commissioning schedules, procedures, and documentation aligned with project milestones.
- Supervise testing, inspections, and functional checks on critical systems (steam generation, emissions control, electrical distribution).
- Manage and interface with EPC contractors, OEMs, and specialist subcontractors.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during pre-commissioning and live commissioning phases.
- Ensure compliance with HSE regulations, environmental permits, and performance guarantees.
- Report on commissioning status and KPIs to the project management team.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of managerial experience in commissioning, ideally in waste-to-energy or power generation.
- Strong understanding of thermal processes, high-pressure steam systems, emissions control, and plant utilities.
- Fluent in German and English (written and spoken).
- Proven ability to manage teams, enforce quality and safety standards, and deliver to tight deadlines.
- Immediate availability.
- Valid EU work authorization (no visa sponsorship available).
