Freelance Rail Electrical Construction Manager

Location: Stuttgart, Germany

Contract: Freelance (12-month contract)

Rate: €140–€170 per hour

 

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Rail Electrical Construction Manager to support the delivery of a major rail infrastructure project in the Stuttgart region.

This role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in railway construction and electrical systems, who have progressed into site or construction management roles. You will oversee the installation and delivery of key electrical packages, ensuring works are executed safely, efficiently, and in line with programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage electrical works on a railway infrastructure project
  • Oversee installation of power supply, cabling, signalling interfaces, and rail systems
  • Coordinate subcontractors and site teams
  • Ensure compliance with rail standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements
  • Monitor progress, resolve site issues, and manage delivery timelines
  • Liaise with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Construction Manager / Site Manager / Bauleiter within rail
  • Strong background in electrical systems (rail, infrastructure, or industrial)
  • Experience on railway, transport, or infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of German rail standards and site practices preferred
  • Strong leadership and site coordination skills

Desirable:

  • Electrical engineering background
  • German language skills
  • Experience with signalling, OLE, or rail power systems

Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
