Construction Planner - Amsterdam Area - Freelance/ZZP ONLY (No visa Sponsorship)
Role Purpose:
The Construction Planner plays a key role in developing, maintaining, and integrating detailed construction schedules into the overall project plan. This position ensures effective planning and execution of construction activities using Earned Value Management (EVM) and accurate progress tracking. It also supports Safe and Integrated Operations (SIMOPS) involving concurrent construction, commissioning, and production. Close collaboration with internal teams and contractors is essential for project success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule Management: Create, maintain, and update detailed, resource-loaded construction schedules aligned with engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
- Schedule Integration: Ensure construction schedules are fully integrated into the project schedule and reflect accurate physical progress per EVM principles.
- Resource Planning: Accurately forecast and optimize labor, equipment, and material resources.
- Progress Tracking: Monitor progress vs. baseline, identify delays, and prepare mitigation plans. Report regularly to project leadership.
- SIMOPS Planning: Coordinate safe, simultaneous operations; develop detailed SIMOPS schedules and risk assessments.
- Interface Coordination: Align schedules across disciplines (engineering, procurement, commissioning) and ensure timely data flow.
- Contractor Oversight: Review and align contractor schedules with project goals; analyze progress and provide guidance.
- Change & Risk Management: Evaluate schedule impacts of changes and participate in risk assessments and mitigation planning.
- Performance Analysis: Analyze trends, identify schedule improvements, and support scenario planning.
- EVM Compliance: Apply EVM to track and report construction performance.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and current schedule records.
- Stakeholder Communication: Clearly communicate schedule updates and risks across all levels of the organization.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 10-15 years in construction planning on major CAPEX projects (€400M+), ideally in agri-food, oil & gas, chemicals, or process industries.
- Expert in Primavera P6; strong EVM knowledge.
- Experience in SIMOPS, risk mitigation, and complex construction sequencing.
- Solid construction background; refinery experience preferred.
- Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- VCA-VOL certification required.
- Must be on-site at least 4 days/week (ideally 5).
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with TILOS, AWP, and Lean Construction.
- Professional certifications (PMI-SP, PSP) are a plus.
Language Requirements:
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Dutch fluency highly preferred, especially for local contractor interaction.
