Data Center Project Manager · Freelance · On-Site

Lead and manage the construction of a large-scale data center project from design through commissioning. Oversee contractors, ensure compliance with German regulations, control budget and schedule, and deliver a high-quality, mission-critical facility. Focus is entirely construction and MEP infrastructure, not IT/telecom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full project lifecycle: design coordination, permitting, civil works, MEP installation, commissioning.
  • Oversee general contractors and subcontractors; ensure quality, safety, and schedule adherence.
  • Review drawings, specs, and technical changes; coordinate civil, electrical, and mechanical works.
  • Control budget, cost forecasts, invoices, and change orders.
  • Ensure HSE compliance and conduct site inspections.
  • Lead stakeholder communication with client, consultants, contractors, and authorities.
  • Support testing, commissioning, documentation, and handover.

 

Your profile:

  • 5–10+ years construction project management experience, ideally in data centers, mission-critical, industrial
  • Experience managing contractors in Germany; understanding of local building codes.
  • Fluent English; German beneficial.
  • Strong scheduling, cost control, and stakeholder management skills.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
