Electrical Design Manager – Data Centre
Location: Frankfurt, Germany
Contract: Freelance / Contract
Duration: 30 months
Start Date: Immediate
Working Pattern: 5 days per week on-site / ~50 hours per week
The Role:
We are supporting a major semi conductor project in Frankfurt and are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Manager to join the team on a freelance basis.
This is a key role within a fast-paced, mission-critical environment, where you will take ownership of electrical design delivery across key packages. The position requires a hands-on professional with strong experience in data centre or critical infrastructure projects, capable of working closely with site, engineering, and commissioning teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage electrical design activities across the project lifecycle
- Oversee cable tray design and routing, ensuring efficient and compliant layouts
- Manage and coordinate containment systems design and installation
- Deliver Medium Voltage (MV) design work, ensuring alignment with project specifications
- Review and coordinate design documentation with consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Ensure all electrical designs comply with applicable standards, regulations, and client requirements
- Support site teams during installation, providing technical guidance and resolving design issues
- Work closely with commissioning teams to ensure designs are fully integrated and deliverable
- Monitor design progress to ensure project milestones and deadlines are achieved
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project delivery
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Electrical Design Manager or Senior Electrical Design Engineer
- Strong background working on data centre or mission-critical projects
- Demonstrated experience in cable tray design, containment systems, and MV design
- Solid understanding of electrical design standards and best practices within Europe
- Experience working in high-pressure, fast-paced construction environments
- Fluent English is essential; German is highly desirable
- Strong coordination, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to work fully on-site and manage demanding project schedules
