Design Manager · Remote

g2 Recruitment are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join a high-profile Data Centre construction project. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering a complex, large-scale project within a fast-growing sector.

You’ll be responsible for coordinating and managing the design process from pre-construction through to delivery, ensuring technical excellence, programme alignment, and stakeholder collaboration.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the design process across all project stages
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams (M&E, architectural, structural)
  • Ensure design delivery aligns with project programme, cost, and quality expectations
  • Work closely with clients, consultants, and contractors to drive design solutions
  • Manage design reviews, technical submissions, and approvals
  • Use digital construction tools to track design progress and coordination
  • Identify and mitigate design risks throughout the project lifecycle

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years’ experience in Design Management within construction
  • Proven experience on Data Centre projects (either client-side or main contractor)
  • Strong Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) bias
  • Experience using ACC (Autodesk Construction Cloud) or Procore
  • Solid understanding of construction methodologies and design coordination
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, technically demanding environment

Desirable:

  • Background with leading contractors or major clients in mission-critical environments
  • Experience working on large-scale or hyperscale data centre builds

Our Three Pillars of Training

Academy:
Week 1 is a series of remote sessions to learn all things systems, followed by a 1 week academy process which is a mixture of classroom and deskside this will be in one of our UK offices and usually consists of 3-8 other consultants all starting their journey together.

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
