We’re supporting a leading Data Center Client in the early phases of a landmark hyperscale development, and they are now looking to appoint two Freelance Document Controllers to support project documentation, compliance, and information management across the full construction lifecycle.
These are high‑impact coordination roles where you will ensure documentation accuracy, maintain structured workflows, and support project delivery on one of the most ambitious industrial programs in the Nordics.
Locations: Fyresdal & Narvik
Rate: Negotiable
Requirement: EU passport
Contract: 12 months (strong possibility of extension up to 6 years) or Permanent employment with an offer of 1.2million NOK
Role Overview
Reporting functionally to the Head of PMO and operationally to the Area Construction Manager, the Document Controller will be responsible for managing all project documentation, ensuring full compliance with client standards, regulatory requirements, and data center quality expectations. You will act as a key point of coordination between engineering, construction, suppliers, and the client organisation, ensuring information flows accurately and efficiently across all workstreams.
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Norwegian is a strong bonus, as you will interface with local teams in Fyresdal or Narvik and international partners across Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, organise, and maintain all project documentation within the client’s EDMS (Aconex, Asite, Procore, or similar).
- Ensure accurate document numbering, version control, metadata management, and distribution workflows.
- Coordinate document submissions between engineering teams, contractors, and suppliers.
- Monitor document compliance with project standards, templates, and quality requirements.
- Track and report document status, outstanding actions, and overdue submissions.
- Support interface management by ensuring documentation alignment across disciplines.
- Prepare and deliver regular documentation reports for project leadership and stakeholders.
- Maintain audit‑ready records and ensure full traceability of all project information.
- Promote best practices in document control and contribute to continuous improvement of systems and processes.
Experience & Skill Requirements
- Strong experience in document control for large‑scale construction or industrial projects.
- Data center or mission‑critical project experience is highly preferred.
- Background working with both owners and contractors is valued; an owner‑mindset is essential.
- Proven ability to manage high‑volume documentation in fast‑paced environments.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience with EDMS platforms (Aconex, Asite, Procore, Viewpoint, SharePoint, etc.).
- Competence in reporting, workflow management, and document compliance.
