E&I Engineer · On-site

Freelance E&I Engineer | Wastewater Treatment Plant | Utrecht

A client of mine is searching for a Freelance E&I Engineer to work on a wastewater treatment plant in Utrecht. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and commissioning electrical and instrumentation systems to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the wastewater treatment plant.

Location: Utrecht, Netherlands

Duration: 12 months (with potential extension)

Engagement: Freelance / Contract

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and specify low-voltage (LV) power distribution for pumps, blowers, conveyors, and control cabinets.
  • Implement sensors for flow, level, pressure, temperature, and water quality monitoring.
  • Develop PLC/SCADA integration for remote pump control, dosing systems, and automated valve operation.
  • Ensure programming aligns with control specifications.
  • Oversee panel fabrication, site installation, and system testing.

Essential:

  • Experience in electrical design, instrumentation, and automation (PLC/SCADA systems).
  • Knowledge of Dutch/EU standards.
  • Proficiency in EPLAN, AutoCAD, or similar design tools.
  • Strong understanding of power distribution, control systems, and field instrumentation.
  • Project coordination and communication with multidisciplinary teams.
  • English fluency

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
