Job Title: Electrical Engineer (Freelance Opportunity)

Location: Northern Germany

Contract Length: 12 Months (Minimum - possible offer to extend)

We are looking for 3 more Electrical Engineers to come support a client who is one of the biggest players in Renewable Energy. You need to come in and hit the ground running, know exactly what you're doing!

 

Your Responsibilities

  • Perform Fault Ride Through (FRT) tests on prototype systems.
  • Set up and adapt our in-house voltage dip systems, including containerized solutions with medium-voltage connections.
  • Carry out and analyze power quality measurements in line with international standards such as IEC 61400-21-1 and FGW TR3.
  • Interpret data effectively—identify patterns, understand signals, and draw accurate conclusions.
  • Get hands-on in the field: from measurements and module testing to practical interventions—bridging theory and practice.
  • Adjust parameters and implement software updates to keep systems optimized and up to date.
  • Work in a dynamic environment: approximately 50% travel, primarily across northern Germany, with a mix of on-site and remote tasks.

Your Profile

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferably with a focus on energy technology) or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Several years of experience in an industrial setting—background in wind energy, power systems, or related fields is a plus.
  • Familiarity with international standards and guidelines for grid integration.
  • Skilled in using and evaluating measurement systems, ideally with tools like Famos.
  • Knowledge of medium-voltage switchgear and readiness to perform switching operations.
  • Strong communication skills in German and English, combined with a team-oriented, hands-on approach.
  • Comfortable working at heights and hold a Class B driver’s license.

Proven experience with the following:

  • GWO Certification
  • Grid Code Requirements
  • FRT (Fault Ride Through)
  • MV Switchgear Operational Experience
  • A minimum of German and English B1
