About the Role:
We are supporting a respected client in the maritime sector who is looking to engage a Freelance Electrical Project Manager for major vessel refurbishment and newbuild projects. This is a technically focused role-ideal for professionals from an electrical engineering background, not production or general site management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate all electrical engineering activities across complex shipyard projects
- Plan, manage, and oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of systems including:
- Power distribution
- Automation and control
- Navigation, lighting, and communication systems
- Liaise closely with clients, engineering teams, and classification societies.
- Ensure full compliance with maritime regulations and technical specifications
- Supervise subcontractors and ensure electrical integration aligns with other disciplines
- Maintain all documentation for handover, QA/QC, and regulatory approval
Requirements:
- Must have a background in electrical engineering-ideally degree qualified
- Experience managing electrical scopes in shipbuilding, ship repair, or offshore vessel projects
- Familiarity with marine standards, electrical design, and commissioning procedures
- Freelance / self-employed status (able to invoice in Germany)
- Fluent German (B2 or higher) - essential for client and on-site coordination
- EU work eligibility
