Freelance Electrical Project Manager - 6+ Month Contract | Bremen (Hybrid) | Competitive Rates

About the Role:

We are supporting a respected client in the maritime sector who is looking to engage a Freelance Electrical Project Manager for major vessel refurbishment and newbuild projects. This is a technically focused role-ideal for professionals from an electrical engineering background, not production or general site management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate all electrical engineering activities across complex shipyard projects
  • Plan, manage, and oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of systems including:
  • Power distribution
  • Automation and control
  • Navigation, lighting, and communication systems
  • Liaise closely with clients, engineering teams, and classification societies.
  • Ensure full compliance with maritime regulations and technical specifications
  • Supervise subcontractors and ensure electrical integration aligns with other disciplines
  • Maintain all documentation for handover, QA/QC, and regulatory approval

Requirements:

  • Must have a background in electrical engineering-ideally degree qualified
  • Experience managing electrical scopes in shipbuilding, ship repair, or offshore vessel projects
  • Familiarity with marine standards, electrical design, and commissioning procedures
  • Freelance / self-employed status (able to invoice in Germany)
  • Fluent German (B2 or higher) - essential for client and on-site coordination
  • EU work eligibility

Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
