About the Company

We are a growing and well‑established geotechnical and Baugrund engineering consultancy, supporting major infrastructure and civil engineering projects across Germany. Our work includes transport infrastructure, rail, utilities, and complex ground and foundation engineering projects. Due to an increasing project pipeline, we are looking to strengthen our team in Hamburg with an experienced freelance Engineering Geologist.

Your Role

As a Freelance Engineering Geologist, you will support a range of infrastructure projects, covering both site‑based and analytical responsibilities. You will work closely with geotechnical engineers, project managers, and clients, contributing your geological expertise throughout the project lifecycle.

Your Responsibilities

  • Planning, execution, and supervision of ground investigations
  • Geological and geotechnical interpretation of soil and rock data
  • Logging and evaluation of boreholes, trial pits, and in‑situ tests
  • Preparation of engineering geological and geotechnical reports
  • Support in the assessment of ground risks for infrastructure projects
  • Collaboration with design teams on foundation and ground solutions
  • Interface with clients, subcontractors, and site teams
  • Compliance with relevant DIN standards, EC7, and German regulations

Your Profile

  • Degree in Engineering Geology, Geology, or Geosciences
  • Several years of practical experience in geotechnical / Baugrund projects
  • Strong knowledge of ground investigation methods and reporting
  • Experience on infrastructure projects (rail, roads, utilities is an advantage)
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks on a freelance basis
  • Good communication skills and a structured working style
  • German language skills required (working proficiency)
  • Availability to work on projects in and around Hamburg

These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
