Our client is currently seeking a freelance automation engineer who will be responsible for supporting the programming and commissioning of machinery used in the production of feed materials and poultry farming operations.

Start Date: February 2026 (TBC)

Contract Duration: 12 months, with extension potential

Rate: €Competitive - Dependent on experience

Location: Europe (Worldwide travel may be required)

Working Style: Mix of on-site and home office depending on project phase

 

Project Description

My client is currently seeking a freelance automation engineer who will be responsible for supporting the programming and commissioning of machinery used in the production of feed materials and poultry farming operations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Commissioning equipment used for Manufacturing of feed / food-related material
  • Palletization and depalletization of systems
  • Machine control for biofuel production applications
  • The role involves making basic software modifications within predefined templates and implementing interlocking changes based on customer requirements.

 

Required Experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in automation, commissioning, or machine control engineering
  • Strong proficiency in Siemens/ Rockwell / Allen-Bradley
  • Solid background in machine commissioning for food, feed, poultry, or biofuel production lines
  • Ability to independently modify machine-control templates and implement safety/interlock changes
  • Experience working on international industrial projects

 

Languages

  • English (essential) due to extensive international travel

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
