Heath Safety Environment Supervisor

Freelance HSE Manager - Oil & Gas Project (Leipzig, Germany)

Location: Leipzig, Germany

Contract Type: Freelance

Start Date: Immediate

Duration: Initial 12 Months (with potential extension)

Languages: Fluent English & German required

The Opportunity

Our client is executing a major Oil & Gas project in Leipzig and is seeking an experienced Freelance Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager to join the site-based execution team.

In this role, you will lead and manage all HSE activities on-site, ensuring compliance with company policies, legal regulations, and industry best practices to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor site-specific HSE plans and programs
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards
  • Conduct risk assessments, site inspections, and audits to identify hazards and implement corrective actions
  • Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions for site personnel and subcontractors
  • Investigate incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions, and ensure proper reporting and follow-up
  • Collaborate with engineering, construction, and commissioning teams to integrate HSE best practices
  • Report HSE performance, issues, and recommendations to project management and client representatives

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as an HSE Manager in Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or industrial construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of German and international HSE legislation, standards, and best practices
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills in multicultural environments
  • Fluent in English and German
  • Based in or willing to relocate for daily presence at the site in Leipzig

These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
