The Opportunity
Our client is executing a major Oil & Gas project in Leipzig and is seeking an experienced Freelance Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager to join the site-based execution team.
In this role, you will lead and manage all HSE activities on-site, ensuring compliance with company policies, legal regulations, and industry best practices to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor site-specific HSE plans and programs
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards
- Conduct risk assessments, site inspections, and audits to identify hazards and implement corrective actions
- Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions for site personnel and subcontractors
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions, and ensure proper reporting and follow-up
- Collaborate with engineering, construction, and commissioning teams to integrate HSE best practices
- Report HSE performance, issues, and recommendations to project management and client representatives
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as an HSE Manager in Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or industrial construction projects
- Strong knowledge of German and international HSE legislation, standards, and best practices
- Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills in multicultural environments
- Fluent in English and German
- Based in or willing to relocate for daily presence at the site in Leipzig
