Freelance HVAC Engineer | Water & Wastewater Treatment Projects

📍 Location: Munich or Berlin, Germany

🏠 Hybrid Working: 3 days in the office / 2 days remote

📅 Contract: Initial 12 months

 

The Role

I am searching for experienced HVAC Engineer to support the planning and delivery of mechanical building services for major water treatment and wastewater treatment plant projects across Germany.

You will be responsible for the design, coordination, and implementation of HVAC systems within industrial and municipal infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with German engineering standards and project requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and planning of HVAC systems for water treatment and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Development of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and split-system solutions
  • Preparation and review of technical documentation, specifications, and design calculations
  • Ensuring compliance with German standards and regulations, including DIN and VDI guidelines
  • Technical support during project execution and occasional site visits
  • Participation in design reviews, technical meetings, and project coordination activities

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' professional experience as an HVAC Engineer
  • Proven experience in water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, or industrial process facilities
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC system design, including split systems and industrial building services
  • Experience working in accordance with DIN and VDI standards
  • Ability to work independently within multidisciplinary project teams
  • Fluent German language skills (written and spoken)
  • Experience with engineering design software and technical documentation

Desirable Experience

  • Experience on municipal infrastructure or environmental engineering projects
  • Knowledge of industrial ventilation systems and process-related HVAC applications
  • Familiarity with German permitting and engineering approval processes
