Job Title: HSE Advisor – Data Centre Project (Freelance)

 

We are seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to support a large-scale hyperscale data centre construction project for a leading global technology organisation. This is a 6-month freelance contract with an immediate start, based on site in Vienna, with accommodation provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day HSE support to construction and commissioning teams on a live data centre project
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation, standards, and project-specific requirements
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
  • Support the electrical scope of works from an HSE perspective, including HV/LV activities, energisation, and commissioning phases
  • Review and approve RAMS, permits to work, and method statements
  • Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and site inductions
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, producing reports and corrective action plans
  • Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and client representatives to promote a strong safety culture
  • Support environmental management requirements as required on site

 

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an HSE Advisor on data centre projects or within the energy / power sector
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety in construction environments (HV/LV experience highly desirable)
  • Relevant HSE qualifications (e.g. NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate, or equivalent)
  • Experience working on fast-paced, high-risk construction projects
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work independently in a freelance/contract role
  • Available to start ASAP

 

Desirable

  • Previous experience on hyperscale or mission-critical infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with international HSE standards and best practice

Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
